Midgard Crowd Control Quest – Clock Tower Basement

Note: The quest has been implemented from November 24, 2010 to December 14, 2010

Overview:
The first Crowd Control Quest for renewal has been implemented in pRO! This is the fifth comeback of the quest and the selected map is another old school map. We have been through the freaky Glast Heim Prison, freezing Ice Dungeon, scary Sphinx Dungeon, alarming Clock Tower and now its time to explore the narrow paths of Clock Tower Basement. The quest will be giving away siege headgears which reduces demi-human damages. The complete details are posted in the pRO site.

Previous Events:
Midgard Crowd Control Event is now a popular event on pRO. The Clock Tower Basement version is the fifth time implementation of the event on pRO servers. The first crowd control targets Zombie Prisoners in Glast Heim Prison. The second time targets Ice Titans at Ice Dungeon. The third variation targets Anubis at Sphinx. And the fourth version targets Alarms at Clock Tower. For the complete story of the events please visit the journal links below.

Quest Proper:
Find the [Quest] Elite Mercenary at any selected city around Midgard. The selected cities were Payon, Alberta, Geffen, Prontera and Orc Village. Please refer to my previous crowd control for the exact location of some crowd control NPCs. When you talk to the [Quest] Elite Mercenary he will convince you to join the fight against High Orcs which apparently has numbers to be controlled. Once you have agreed to join, he will then warp you directly to the second level of Clock Tower Basement.

Upon arrival at the Clock Tower Basement, locate [Quest] Mercenary Scout and receive the mission to control the spawn of High Orcs. Confirm that the quest has been successfully received using Alt + U. Find the quest on the list and double click it. This will server as your kill count counter. At this point you may now start killing High Orcs.

Crowd Control events encourages party play however I preferred to perform this task alone because from observation it would be best to solo. I used my auto shadow spell build Shadow Chaser for faster gain of kill counts and higher survival rate on the dungeon. I found a comfortable spot at the lower left part of the map where none to few players passing by. There is a high spawn rate in the area which is a good spot for a lone adventurer like me.

Sometime in my adventure, I also partied with random people. I enjoyed their company because of unusual topics being discuss while we are busy whacking monsters on the dungeon. Evidently the kill count is a little faster however we are struggling to get the last hit from other adventurers as well. And in order to get the shared kill count the party must not stray away from each other to get the points.

Upon reaching 200 kill counts, I went back to the Mercenary Scout and claimed my rewards. For non-premium users they will receive 1 Mercenary Badge and 1 Yggdrasil Berry while premium users will receive 2 Mercenary Badges and 2 Yggdrasil Berry.

After receiving the rewards, talk to the Mercenary Scout again to refresh your kill counts and begin the quest again. You can perform the quest up to 20 times per character. You will also receive a buff similar to Small Life Potion where in for a certain duration you will have a faster HP regeneration.

Rewards:
The rewards for this quest are the same as the previous Midgard Crowd Control Quest. After claiming all your Mercenary Badges, go back to the town and and meet the [Quest] Elite Mercenary again. He will then present you with the list of available siege headgears that could be acquired. The prizes are divided into Upper Headgears and Mid Headgears. The Upper Headgear has a common description of reducing Demi-Human attacks by 10% while the Mid Headgears has the common description of reducing Demi-human attacks by 2%.

Comments:
I’m happy that the GMs had another Crowd Control quest on an old school map. Just like the crowd control Alarms mixed players participate in the quest. While roaming the Clock Tower Basement I can see a lot of second job, transcendent but mostly dominated by third job. The increase kill count of 200 is not an issue because this renewal most skills are over powered which can one hit the mobs. The map also has a high spawn rate which makes the quest a little faster.

I performed the quest a week later from its release. I missed the first week experience where a lot of players are hyped to get the badges. Then comes the second week where a modified experience is paralleled to this event. This is the time where I started the quest and decided to solo because most players are busy leveling up. From observation, the second week of the quest is mostly performed by party woots. >_<

Nonetheless, I love this quest and finally got the last headgear for my collection! I’m looking forward for the next crowd control. And also I’m expecting more siege headgears to be added on the list.
