Overview:
The Sealed Shrine houses the Great Baphomet who has been sealed in the depths of St.Capitolina. The Baphomet in this shrine is far more powerful than the Baphomet found in the Mjolnir Maze. Because of Satan Morroc the seal of the Great Baphomet has been weakened and the threat of the monster being release is getting near. The adventurers are now invited to re-seal the Great Baphomet to finally lock the MVP forever. For the complete quest guide please visit the iRO wiki site.
The Cast:
We have a small party composition since this is just a random adventure among our bored guild members.
- Herbie Boy a Paladin – main MVP killer and tank
- Angel Linker a Soul Linker – eske support
- Blur a High Wizard – main mob control and icewall support
- Pak a High Priest– main priest support
The Adventure:
One day my guild mates got bored and wanted to do an adventure. We can’t possibly do an Endless Tower because that is special guild event and needs preparation so instead we decided to do another Instance Dungeon called Sealed Shrine. This will be our first time in this Dungeon and our team will now attempt to re-seal the Great Baphomet.
Getting there:
The nearest city going to St. Capitola Abby is Prontera City. From Prontera, walk towards the right exit and you’ll reach a small map. On that map walk until you reach the upper right part of the map and enter the portal. The map would be a maze full of Mandragora. Navigate through the maze and made your way to the upper right part of the map and enter the portal. From here you will encounter a lot of Yoyos. Just walk towards the right portal in order to reach St. Capitola Abby. This map is the area where Monk Examinations occurs. Then locate a portal at the lower center of the map. Enter the building and locate Friar Patrick.
The Catacomb:
To initiate the Instance Dungeon, Talk to Friar Patrick. He’s responsible in briefing you with the history of the sealed shrine. If you agree to re-seal the Great Baphomet he will que your party before entering. Wait for a few minutes before the instance is created.
Upon entering, we are literally confused on what to do first. We tried to just walk and clear down the monster spawns as we walk but we ended up being lost inside the dungeon. The mini map doesn’t clearly tell our location and the only guide that we have is the map from the iRO wiki site. I patiently locate our current position on the map and then we navigate inside the dungeon using the map on the site.
After few moments of being lost and killing recklessly, we have figured things by ourselves. The first thing that we should have done is to locate the Falling Grave located at the upper mid part of the map. The person inside the Falling Grave told us a little bit of the story behind the Catacomb.
At the end of our conversation with the Falling Grave, he told us to search for the Pendant of the Spirit so the he could materialize his soul. When he has materialized his soul, he can instruct us properly on what to do with the seals. The pendant is somewhere hidden among the other falling graves on that map. Any member could get the search and get the pendants. When the pendant has been found go back to the Falling Grave and give him the pendant. He will then start materializing his soul at this moment.
When the Soul of the Ancient Hero has now been materialized move towards the center of the catacomb. He appears to be a Champion with a fading body similar to the appearance of the biolabs family. We talked to him and told us that he has a few time to communicate so he immediately gave us the instructions. The instructions were to collect 10pcs Essense of Fire for the party leader only and 1pc Token of Apostle for each member including the party leader.
The item gathering starts by the time you choose to start the quest. It would also mean that the 1hr timer is triggered. The 1hr period covers the time for item gathering and the time for defeating Great Baphomet. The Essence of Fire that is required on the quest can be harvested by talking the Babbling Fire. The Babbling Fires are the torches scattered around the dungeon. The four Babble Fire located at each corner in the center are bonus for the party because you’ll get an instant 4 Essence of Fire instantly.
On the other hand, killing monsters named Apostle of Baphomet will harvest the Token of Apostle. The Token of Apostle will automatically goes to the inventory of the last hitter. Support players need not to worry on getting the token because the item is trade-able. The killer on the team could gather the token and distribute them among the members.
When all items were gathered, navigate through the maze and find your way to the center. Talk to the Soul of Ancient Hero and he’ll send you off to the second floor and defeat the Great Baphomet. The portal towards the second floor is located at the lower right part of the map. Strong navigation skills are required in order to find your way to the second floor. Do note that entering the portal will require a Token of Apostle.
Side Note: Re-entering the sealed shrine dungeon after being disconnected is allowed but the portal towards the second floor still requires an Apostle of Baphomet in order to re-enter. The disconnected player must gather again at least 1 Token of Apostle.
The Battle:
The second floor of the dungeon looks like turtle islands map but it’s square. The seals being described on the quest guide are found at the corners of the map and one at the center. The normal way of re-sealing the Great Baphomet is to let him pass through the different seals but our team will use another strategy. This secret strategy is far more easier way of re-sealing.
While walking towards the center of the map, a horde of Apostle of Baphomet will welcome the party. If unprepared the team might be wipe out because of the sudden surprise.
Finally upon reaching the altar, we can summon the Great Baphoment. Trigger the Main Altar and a meteor will fall from the sky. From the depths of the ground, The Great Baphomet will rise and ready to rip your party into pieces.
The power of the Great Baphomet is too great and could easily one shot every member of the party. He also walks very fast and even a paladin with agility up like me has been catch up. As for our case, we are using that great power from the Great Baphomet to defeat him. We tried to perform the magic strategy on him but in the end, we failed to reseal the Great Baphomet. We didn’t sustain the magic strategy and we were wipe out as a team.
Analysis:
There will always be the first time. The failure in this dungeon is part of our learning on the Sealed Shrine Instance. The whole experience on this dungeon is just new to us so there are a lot of rooms for improvement. We will surely finish this dungeon after we figure out some strategy.
