Warlock Job Change Experience

Overview:
Warlocks are the 3rd jobs for Wizards and High Wizards. Their role as magic wielders remains the same. However they now have larger scale and stronger magic like Crimson Rock, Jack Frost, Earth Strain and Chain Lightning. Before they only have the elements of fire, water, wind, earth and ghost to utilize now they have been blessed with dark and neutral magic. They can now release their stored magic instantly with the aid of Release, Freezing Spellbook and Reading Spellbook. Lastly they have their Ultimate magic on their arsenal called Comet and Tetra Vortex.

Foreword:

This is not a job change guide. I’m making this write up to relay my personal experience with the job change for Warlocks. I may not be able to give the step by step procedure of the job change but I will relay some tips on the do’s and don’ts for the job change. The guide I used for the Job change is found at iRO wiki site.

My Story:

My adventure of becoming a Warlock starts on the city of Morroc. Locate a strange distortion at the lower left part of the hole in Morroc.

After that you will find yourself in a room at Splendid. In front of you is the head of the Warlocks in the New World. Talk to her and convince her to become a warlock yourself

She will be doubtful on your skills so she will be referring you to her assistants for tasks to prove your worth. The assistant will be handing you two accessories for the task namely the Magical Stone and the Magic Stone Ring. Both accessories are character bound.

Accessories used for the job change exam

Talk to one of the assistant to bring you outside and she’ll be sending you to the Splendid Town. Head to the right map of the Splendid Town to start hunting for the items Glittering Crystal and Great Bradium Piece. It is important to remove your accessories and equip the two accessories provided by the assistant. You will not get the exam items if you don’t wear them. Because you will be strip off with phen accessory, the alternative gear for the phen effect would be the Orlean’s Gown. This will ensure that you will release your spells without being interrupted

Monsters for the exam has the level 99 aura

Only the field between Splendid Town and Midcamp has the quest monsters. The quest monsters are easy to determine as indicated by their aura. Killing these monsters are hard because of their high HP and strong attacks. If you’re hunting solo, your best magic combination would be safety wall, quagmire and water ball because these are the fast casting spells available for you. Frost driver and Jupitel thunder will work but it will not be fast compared to the first combination. The old school combo Firewall plus offensive skill will also work. If by chance you have a priest class friend, your job will be easier. Any offensive combo is possible.

Looting the Glittering Crystal and Great Bradium Piece

The Glittering Crystal is dropped by Naga while the Great Bradium Piece is dropped by Bradium Golem. The exam is not about killing a number of monsters but to get the exclusive loot from these monsters. This part of the exam can be very frustrating if you don’t have the luck. If a lot of time has been wasted, check your equipment again using ALT + Q and see to it that both accessories are equipped. Another technique although not confirmed is switching the places of both accessories. Then try hunting again and see if there are fruitful results.

After collecting the needed items return to Yoop at the upper left part of Splendid town. She’ll take the exam accessories and tells you to go back to the Warlock guild master. You have two ways to go back into the room of the guild master. First option is to go back at Morroc and find the distortion near the center or  the second option which is locate the distortion at the upper left part of Splendid town.

The guild master will delighted with the result and she’ll be sending you to the final exam room. The final exam will be a practical exam where in you will be facing waves of monsters. You will be provided with 4 sets with 5pcs each of Rainbow Ruby. Each Rainbow Ruby contains Warlock spells. From left to right the arrangements would be Frosty Misty, Chain Lightning, Earth Strain and Crimson Rock. Upon entering the waiting area pub, place the Rainbow Ruby on your skill quick slot for easier skill usage.

Warlock Examination Room

Here are the tips that I got from iRO wiki which helped me a lot in going through this exam.  Directly quoting from their guide.

This fight isn't nearly as hard as it initially looks. SG as soon as you enter the room, and run to the corner. Chain lightning the aquas, killing them pretty much instantly. Throw 2 crimson rocks on the rest, then clean up with whatever you want. Once you're in the corner, a wall spell can help - ice if you can get in a good position for it, safety if you can't. Try to finish the fight in the corner, as this will make the second wave easier than the first. You *WILL* need healing potions, bring a lot of them.

As you slay the last monster of the first group, another 2 Nagas, 2 Bradium Golems, 2 Dark Pinguiculas, and 2 Aqua Elementals will spawn once more. If you're in the top left part of the room, you will only pull the Nagas. The counter resets, and you have five minutes to kill this group.

After the fight with two waves of monsters, Magical Porings will spawn, If you still have Frosty Misty Rainbow Ruby use it to knock out most of the monsters. Finish them off and a Hallow Stone will appear on the room. The Hallow Stone is like the barricades during War of Emperium second edition where in it has a high HP. When the Hollow Stone has been shattered into pieces you will be teleported back to the guild master.

Talk to the Warlock guild master to prove your worth. She will be impress and change you into a Warlock. Congratulations!

Finally changed into a Warlock

As part of your job change you will be rewarded with a Warlock exclusive headgear Magic Stone Hat [1] and a third job exclusive accessory Green Apple.

Comments:

The Warlock Job Change is ok in terms of difficulty. I haven’t got any problems in going to the New World because we have a Midcamp teleporter in Prontera. The difficult part of this quest would be the item hunting where in you are task to slay Nagas and Bradium Golems hoping them to drop the quest items. If your lucky you will be looting those items in less than an hour but if you’re unlucky it might take you the whole day hunting for the item. Also to add to the difficulty would be the set of skills you have. Obviously Water Ball is your hard hitting skill in this task but if you don’t have that better ask for support from a friend. The monster battle at the last part of the quest is somewhat easy if you read the quest guide in advance. During the whole exam you need lots of potions to survive and phen carded accessory or Orlean’s Gown to successfully unleash your spells.
