As you have noticed the only direct travel to Port Malaya is through Alberta via Optamara Crew. You may visit my Access on Global Project Map for more info on accessing maps from Alberta. To start the easy travel to Port Malaya, Locate the Port Malaya Immigrant at the southern road of the City. You can easily recognize him because of it's green clothing and wearing a Salakot. As you approach him, he'll be using the emotion /! to get attention.
Talk to him and you have the option to purchase an Inside Out shirt. The Inside Out shirt is consumable similar to a Butterfly Wing, however your destination will always be in Port Malaya Town. The cost will not be an issue because it is very cheap. Even a new comer can purchase it.
You can only purchase 1 inside out shirt at a time. There are no options to purchase the item in bulk. But you can have the option to talk him repeatedly until you get the desired amount of inside out shirt. I would like to add that this item is the cheapest consumable to be used to get out from trap areas.
When you use the Inside out shirt you will be warped to Port Malaya. The spawn point will be at the center of the town near the Kafra. At Port Malaya, there is also an easy way to get to Prontera City. Another Port Malaya Immigrant is stationed at the south portion of the pool near the center of the town can provide you with a direct warp to Prontera City. When you use his warp you will spawn at the location of the Malaya Immigrant in Prontera.

just to add more info, you can actually return to your save point by entering a jeep then relogging the character while inside. don't know if it's a bug or anything. it sure is useful.
