Upgrading Ores

Overview:
Upgrading has been a core feature of Ragnarok Online. It is the process of adding more ATK and MATK on weapons and adding more DEF on armors depending on the upgrade level. All weapons and armors can under go this process unless specified on the item description. Godly items are notably cannot be upgraded.

During the pre-Renewal era, adventurers can only enjoy upgrades until +10 for both weapons and armors. When renewal hits the main servers the upgrading feature has been expanded to +20. The difficulty of upgrading remains the same. Attempts to upgrade beyond +10 will be much more difficult than expected.

Because of the expansion of the upgrading feature, Ragnarok Online released several ores to make higher upgrades more achievable in-game. Most of which can be farmed on monsters and MVPs but there are several ores that are available thru Hypermart or promos. On this post, I will be featuring all existing upgrading ores that can be used for this feature.

Phracon
Description: Metallic element used to strengthen weapons.
Harden Lv1.Weapons
Where to find: Several in-game monsters and can be purchased at any upgrading merchants
What it can do: Upgrades Lv1 weapons from +1 to +10
Where to upgrade: Look for Hollgrehenn

Emveretarcon
Description: Metallic element used to strengthen weapons.
Harden Lv2.Weapons
Where to find: Several in-game monsters and can be purchased at any upgrading merchants
What it can do: Upgrades Lv2 weapons from +1 to +10
Where to upgrade: Look for Hollgrehenn

Oridecon
Description: A pure Oridecon. Know as the blessed metal, it's extremely strong and can increase the damage of weapons if it is weilded to them.
Used for tempering Level 3 or Level 4 weapons.
Where to find: Several low level monsters or combine 5 Rough Oridecon
What it can do: Upgrades Lv3 and Lv4 weapons from +1 to +10
Where to upgrade: Look for Hollgrehenn

Elunium
Description: Very light, non toxic metal.
Used for toughening armors.
Where to find: Several low level monsters or combine 5 Rough Elunium
What it can do: Upgrades armors from +1 to +10
Where to upgrade: Look for Hollgrehenn

Bradium
Description: One of the hardest metal found in Ash vacuum. It had a difficulty of refining because it was too hard, but recently it became possible of weapon strengthening by repeated experiments.
Where to find: Several high level monsters or exchange 3 Oridecons
What it can do: Upgrades weapons from +11 to +20
Where to upgrade: Look for Bestry

Carnium
Description: One of the hardest metal in Midgard Continent. It has a extra ordinary degree of strength but it's too solid to be refined easily.
Where to find: Several high level monsters or exchange 3 Eluniums or exchange 1 Refined Bradium
What it can do: Upgrades armors from +11 to +20
Where to upgrade: Look for Bestry

Enriched Oridecon
Description: A concentrated Oridecon that has been buried deep underground. Used as a material to make stronger weapons. The rate of refining a weapon without breaking it will increase.
Where to find: Hypermart
What it can do: Upgrades weapons to ensure the safe limit but beyond safe limit its chances is similar to that of an Oridecon (F2P)
Where to upgrade: Look for Suhnbi

Enriched Elunium
Description: A concentrated Elunium that has been buried deep underground. Used as a material to make stronger armors. The rate of refining a weapon without breaking it will increase.
Where to find: Hypermart
What it can do: Upgrades armors to ensure the safe limit but beyond safe limit its chances is similar to that of an Elunium(F2P)
Where to upgrade: Look for Suhnbi

HE Oridecon
Description: Sensitive ore guarantees your equipment's safety.
When refining weapon with refine level over +7, weapon won't vanish even if your refine fails! But, refining over +10 is not allowed.
When fail in refine, 1 refine rate goes down.
Where to find: Hypermart and promos
What it can do: Upgrades weapons from +7 to +10. If attempt fails the weapon will not be broken but instead it will loose 1 upgrade
Where to upgrade: Look for Blacksmith Hamma

HE Elunium
Description: Sensitive ore guarantees your equipment's safety.
When refining armor with refine level over +7, weapon won't vanish even if your refine fails! But, refining over +10 is not allowed.
When fail in refine, 1 refine rate goes down.
Where to find: Hypermart and promos
What it can do: Upgrades armors from +7 to +10. If attempt fails the weapon will not be broken but instead it will loose 1 upgrade
Where to upgrade: Look for Blacksmith Hamma

HD Bradium
Description: The .density and solidity has been heightened by reapeated experiments of Midgard's Scholars. It seems that it becomes more difficult for weapon upgrade.
When you fail while upgrading defense weapon whose upgrade level is over +10, it won't be destroyed or disappear.
When the upgrade fails , upgrade level gets -1
Where to find: Hypermart and promos
What it can do: Upgrades weapons from +10 to +20. If attempt fails the weapon will not be broken but instead it will loose 1 upgrade
Where to upgrade: Look for Blacksmith Basta

HD Carnium
Description: It has been compressed for a very long time that the density and solidity got heightened. It seems that it becomes more difficult for Defense Weapon Upgrade.
When you fail while upgrading defense weapon whose upgrade level is over +10, it won't be destroyed or disappear.
When the upgrade fails , upgrade level gets -1
Where to find: Hypermart and promos
What it can do: Upgrades armors from +10 to +20. If attempt fails the armor will not be broken but instead it will loose 1 upgrade
Where to upgrade: Look for Blacksmith Basta

Blessed Oridecon
Description: Oridecon which is blessed by the smith god.
When refining weapon with refine Lv between +6 and +12, weapon won't vanish even if the refine fails
Where to find: Promos
What it can do: Upgrades weapons from +6 to +12. If attempt fails the weapon will not be broken and the ore just disappears
Where to upgrade: Look for Blacksmith Dister

Blessed Elunium
Description: Elunium which is blessed by the smith god.
When refining armors with refine Lv between +6 and +12, weapon won't vanish even if the refine fails
Where to find: Promos
What it can do: Upgrades armors from +6 to +12. If attempt fails the armor will not be broken and the ore just disappears
Where to upgrade: Look for Blacksmith Dister

Notes:

• All Refining NPCs can be found in Prontera upgrading building. Other cities and towns might provide limited refining NPCs.
• As of November 27, 2013 patch notes Blacksmith Dister has been relocated to Premium Hypermart.
