pRO management made a surprising move during their "mapapa-OMG ka (/omg)" event. Tao Gunka Card has been sold in Hypermart on all servers of pRO last June 30, 2011!
pRO recently made a drastic decision of selling a Tao Gunka card on hypermart. Tao Gunka card is a powerful Boss card which increases your HP by 100% but reduces your def and mdef. The card sold costs 100,000 ROK points which is equal to 5,000 Php. The item is sold for the whole day of June 30, 2011. Thus the only limiting factor of the number of cards sold is the duration of the special hypermart.
Before the selling of the said item, pRO F2P server hypermart is selling Tao Gunka scrolls which gives the same effect as card but only lasts for 3mins if I'm not mistaken. So basically their decision might be making Tao Gunka permanent by selling it as a card at a high price and remove the scroll version. Now only people with the money for luxury has the capability of purchasing this card. It also made some not so blessed people realize their priority in life because of the insane price of the card.
Personally, I'm not oppose to the idea of selling the said card because pRO Valkyrie's original setting is making boss cards available through Hypermart. During the first months of Valkyrie, we have the luxury of buying various Boss cards each week. Although at some point this setting has been opposed by Gravity so pRO released Boss Cards on promos, events and Lucky Scrolls instead. Now pRO claimed that selling Tao Gunka card in hypermart was approved by their developers. I'm assuming that their developers is a representative of Gravity so it means that they have the go signal to do this.
What bothers me with their move is its effect during siege. pRO players tend to be competitive and wants their gears to be high end as much as possible so its not surprising if a lot of us will be using the Tao Gunka carded armor during siege. With some face off and guild clashes with popular guilds, I can say that Rune Knights' Dragon Breath and Sura's Hellgate is more powerful now in the hands of Tao Gunka Users. Royal Guards wearing Tao Gunka armors are more durable than before. Even if I wear Fire Armor, Dragon Breath's damage hurts so imagine the damage when you're not wearing Fire Armor. Hellgate on the other hand is not surprisingly strong because with or without this card it hurts like hell.
kRO patch for July 13, 2011 has a change on the drawback part of Tao Gunka Card. The def and mdef of the wearer will be reduced by half as oppose to the current attribute which is -50 def and -50 mdef. However I have no idea when will this change reach the pRO servers.
