Overview:
Upgrading has been a core feature of Ragnarok Online. It is the process of adding more ATK and MATK on weapons and adding more DEF on armors depending on the upgrade level. All weapons and armors can under go this process unless specified on the item description.
ROMSP has overhauled the upgrading system where they increased the chance of successful upgrade from upgrading ores and introduced a system where +10 is attainable safely

All Upgrading NPCs has been removed from the game and replaced it with NPC Refine Guide to instantly teleport players to the second floor of eden.
New Upgrading Item:
Blacksmith Blessing
- an item introduced to prevent equipment from breaking when upgrading +8 to +10 when using Enriched Elunium or Enriched Oridicon when it fails
- additionally it prevents equipment from reducing 1 level upgrade when upgrading +11 to +12 when using HD Carnium or HD Bradium
- item can only be bought on Kafra Shop but is treadable
- can only be used to upgrade together with Enriched Elunium, Enriched Oridicon, HD Carnium and HD Bradium.
- the number of Blacksmith Blessing depends on the current upgrade level of the item to be used

All of the upgrading NPCs are located at the second floor of eden near the stairs. They are nicely lined up vertically so it is very easy to spot them all there.
Once you talk to any of the Upgrading NPCs, it will provide you with a list of upgrading options including ores and their allowed upgrades. To guide you further please see success rates below

The overhaul of the upgrading system is a welcome change to the game since it made +10 equipment available for everyone. All items are attainable in-game except for the Blacksmith Blessing but this can also be bought from other players. However bear in mind that higher upgrades will require more materials and luck so you might be spending a good fortune just to attain a higher upgrade. The feature is one of the best renovation introduced by ROMSP
