Ragnarok Championship League 2020 Day 1

The moment that ROMSP management released the mechanics and guidelines for the tournament our guild had weigh in our options and where do we ant to position ourselves. We remained neutral all throughout the WOE scene even on War events. At the end of discussions, Unicorns decided to join the Ragnarok Championship League 2020 (RCL2020) after we received invitation from both prominent alliances in our server.

We joined the alliance of 322, Imperial Regalia and Legion infused in Xandata for this event. The alliance does not have any official name but we casually name it 322 alliance since they are the prominent guild from the very start of ROPH server.

On the other hand, Unicorns was able to accumulate members from Team Bonak, Team Gala, Team Reapie and Team Ghost in which were able to bump our numbers to a big guild. As for the Day 1 of RCL we easily filled up our guild to maximum capacity and we even had overflow to our second guild. Good thing we have discord to synchronize our plan and commands even with separate guilds

The 322 alliance started the war by assaulting the opposing alliance fully defended Neuschwanstein agit in Luina Realm. The entrance of the agit is chaotic, laggy, DC prone and has friendly fire. Unicorns spend couple of minutes waiting outside while 322 and IR are securing the entrance for their assault team.

When the bigger guilds on our alliance are ready to push deeper into the castle we entered the agit and created a stack on our own at the entrance. The opposing alliance had Blitzkried and Mythic creating their own stack at the first map to help in slowing down our attacks.

When 322 and Imperial Regalia was able penetrate into the castle, we created a stack near the entrance to filter incoming opposing alliance. Few moments later, a big push from Mythic and Valiant Green are coming in and try to retake the entrance defenses but we were able to hold them back. However, the continues flow of their players made our stack thin that we were able to sustain our position.

It seems that Valiant red stood strong on their choke defense at the third map where in they have the flag in advantage so the alliance decided to push as one big alliance. We lined and grouped by guilds as we walk deeper in to the castle so as not to take too much damage from friendly fire.

With our numbers the opposing alliances back-up guilds trying to hold us back were overrun. The survivors of DC and friendly fires were able to regroup at the third map where we need to penetrate the choke defense of Valiant red.

All of our assault guilds from the alliance were able to regroup at the third map but those who died or got DC had a hard time coming in since the opposing alliance had taken over the entrance. Some of them also tried to sandwich the tail end of our attack team but Unicorns immediately respond by securing the portal of the third map

When we felt that there were no more threats for a possible sandwich we prepared for the assault. The main focus of our attack is to take down the opposing guild's bridge and back up bridge so that we can have easier access to their back lane.

Unicorns were successful in taking down the Valiant red's bridge and back-up which helped our alliance from storming the choke part of Valiant's defense. I have no visual idea on what happened since I got disconnected as we pass through the choke area. From my guild mates report there were breakers from our alliance who were able to penetrate and was able to start breaking the emperium.

But from the aftermath of our assault, it seems that Valiant was able to regain its choke defense and was able to clear our alliance breakers who were able to penetrate. Basically we are back to square one with our attempt to take over the agit.

We attempted to recreate our similar approach since it worked the first time. Unfortunately I got disconnected again as pass through the choke area so I had no visual idea on what happened next. Then again the reports says that we were not successful on the attempt

We did have our last attempt but the defense of Valiant red stood strong and they had the strategic advantage from the flag warp. The alliance then decided to do our own thing so went straight to Valkyrie Realm to get our own points.

Unicorns are task to secure Lazreagues for the alliance so we immediately went in and clear the agit. Our plan was immediately scouted by the opposing alliance and send out Blitzkrieg, Valiant Green and some Mythic to pressure our defenses.

Blitzkrieg at some point was able to create a portal defense at the emperium room but we were able to take over the defense from them and at the same time pass the agit to Imperial Regalia.

Once broken, we immediately shift to entrance portal defense to prevent opposing guilds from taking over. However only few attack teams were sent out so we had an easy job of clearing them out. At the end of the war we were successful in executing the alliance plan for Day 1. Imperial Regalia was able to take all agits for Valkyrie realm for the Horizontal Bingo.

On the bigger picture, Valiant red was able to do the Horizontal Bingo in Luina. Unfortunately Xandata was not able to execute the plan to deny one agit in Luina. At this point, both alliance are tied on the score board for their leading contenders. It would be very exciting to see how will both alliance strategize on their next plan of action.

Here's a video from my guild mate Willie on our RCL 2020 day 1. Enjoy ~
