Overview:
After a long maintenance break, ROPH has released the Halloween 2017 event. The event takes place mostly in Niffleheim where it has the spooky theme perfect for the event. The quests are readily accessible to level 20 and above but in reality it can only be performed mostly by second jobs because of the the difficulty of the item gathering and monsters at Niffleheim. The great thing on this event are the rewards. /gg
This article will not provide the step by step quest guide since it was already provided by ROPH on their website. If you need the full guide please refer to the links below. However this article will provide tips and my personal experience on how to go over with the quest easily.
Duration:
Start: November 1, 2017
End: November 29, 2017
The Cast:
During the event I am accompanied by my friends SinXPat the Assassin and Shun the Rouge. Basically we all used a Thief class due to its ability to Steal loots from the event monster which makes our farming a little bit easier. Using an acolyte class can also be a good farmer because of the Teleport skill. If you have the money then a teleport accessory is a good item for this event.
Preparation:
Definitely you can do this alone. Farming Runaway Jakk before doing the quest is advisable since the number of loots you need is a lot. You will need at least 20 Pumpkin Decoration, 51+ Dry White Stem and 10+ Delicious Fish to finish the 3 part quest. If you plan to perform the repeatable quest then you will need more. The Delicious Fish is readily available in the market or you can buy it from Alberta. The Pumpkin Decoration and Dry White Steam are both character bound.
Quest Part 1 - Jack and Jack's Jacky story:
The quest will take you to Niffleheim instantly through the Halloween NPCs in Morroc, Payon or Prontera. They are the triggers to start this quest. If you farm in advance you will finish this quest easily.
However be mindful that during this part you will still need to kill 10 Runaway Jakk. A progress counter is seen on the quest window. The kill count is shared among party members as long as they are on the same screen. If you are questing with friends it is advisable to drag the Runaway Jakk to the party before killing him to share the kill count.
The bad news is once you finished hunting the 10 Runaway Jakk you no longer have access to the instant NPC warp from the event triggers. The only choice you have is go to Umbala save there then you can either Bunjee Jump your way to Niffleheim or walk through the Yggdrassil Root.
Repeatable Quest:
The first part can be repeated the next day with a reset time every 4:00 am in the morning Philippine Time. The repeated quest will still need 10 Pumpkin Decoration, 20 Dry White Stem and kill 10 Runaway Jakk. Farming in advance can help but you still need to fulfill the kill 10 Runaway Jakk so you'll always be on the field scouting for Runaway Jakk. The quest can be repeated up to 7 times then Hororong will give you the Jakk costume. Jakk costume will cover the mid and lower headgear which complements the Costume Jakk. From my experience, I believe I got this on my fifth repeat so maybe there is a chance to get this earlier than 7 repeats.
Quest Part 2 - Jack and Jack's Cat:
The quest will tackle on Jack's lost cat. You will need a lot of travelling on this part and the ROPH guide might not help. The iROwiki will be very helpful on this part of the quest because of the detailed map images on where to see the exact NPC locations. If you seem confused on which part of the quest you are doing press Alt + U to see the current progress.
After the long travels to discover Jakk's cat, you will know the reason on why his cat runaway. The best part of this quest is you will now receive a Portable cage for Scatleton. You will need an incubator to hatch the egg and receive Scatleton as a pet. You will need Delicious Fish to feed the pet and is readily available in the market. Congratulations!
Quest Part 3 - A wind blown from the dark valley
The story of this quest narrates the reason why Jakk's cat cannot go back to Jakk. You will be talking to Jakk and his cat at a distant location to know their story.
Once you uncover Scatleton's bone grave, you are now at the hard part of the quest which is collecting Black Fur. If your character is not adept on high level monster combat then you are in trouble. Fortunately there are a lot of people performing the quest with which they offer party to share the random Black Fur drop. The good thing about this item is that if any of your party members killed a monster all of you in the party has a chance to receive a Black Fur directly into your inventory. I thank my party members for the shared kills even if I didn't perform anything. The Black Fur is character bound.
After finishing the last parts of the quest, go back to Jakk and receive the Costume Jakk. This is a worth it quest because this is the only available costume which everybody can get. Take time and get this item. Congratulations!
I didn't perform the repeatable quests because it seems that the evolve pet is not worth getting since I have info that the ability is the same as Scatleton so I'm skipping this part. Also some players reported that it is hard to get the Memory of Gyol. Collect the needed materials for evolving the pet is even harder. If you have he patience then you can continue with the quest.
Bonus:
If you're lucky enough Lord of Death might spawn on the map to say hello to all adventurers. This is the only town with MVP spawn and death has a penalty.
There are times when some adventurers even lure Lord of Death to the main quest area for the troll. Well you just need to enjoy these experiences as part of the game.
