Malangdo Culverts - 2nd Attempt

Overview:
Malangdo Culverts is one of the two featured instance dungeon at Malangdo Island. The Malangdo Culverts are always clogged by vicious monsters and the Cats need some hands to clear them up. Volunteer adventurers are given access to the dungeon to clean up the sewers. But when you knew you cleared everything something monstrous will face your team.

The Cast:
We are now in our second attempt on the dungeon and we have increased in number. During our discussions on the dungeon mechanics we have composed our party in a defensive manner. We are thinking that we need to protect the person closing the drain so we have come up with two archbishops. I will be the MVP killer so I brought my genetic and we have a Rune Knight which will be our main mob control. All of the members of the party except me will have their first time on this dungeon.

  • Rich Kid Herbert a Genetic - MVP killer and closes drain
  • sankaku a Rune Knight - mob control
  • Scarlet an Archbishop - support
  • SAV-326-D/9 an Archbishop - support specifically giving Kyrie Eleison to the one closing the drain

The Adventure:
Before we entered the dungeon, I gave out some information to my party on the dungeon mechanics. Though I understand that to fully realize the mechanics we have to experience it first hand. We are all excited to try out the dungeon and we immediately talked to Missing the cleaner.

He then sent us off to the sewers for cleaning. We met Missing at the sewers and gave us further instructions on how the dungeon works. Then he let us confirm if we are ready to start the task. I agreed that we could now start so Missing started giving out commands.

We performed our class rituals and buff ourselves then we started looking for the clogged drains. At the start of the tasks there are few monsters spawning so our Rune Knight can still manage to hold them. Our Archbishops are also busy casting Kyrie Eleison on us for protection but they can't hold a lot of monsters with them.

What makes the mechanics difficult is that the person assigned to close the drain must talk to the drain and then a casting bar starts to pop up on his head. While doing this, he must not be interrupted by any damage or skill from the monster that is why we have our Archbishop constantly imbuing us with Kyrie Eleison.

I noticed that the monster spawn on this run are not the same during our previous run where we only have two members in the party. We have a new set of monsters and are more powerful. The monsters are not ordinary mob that we can find in Byalan Dungeon because they are packed with strength and have high HP so killing them in one blow is not possible. They are also capable of using high level skills such as Water Ball, Frost Driver, Full Strip and Evil Land.

Because we cannot control the mob and I'm constantly interrupted during closing of the drain, we failed on several occasions. Good thing Missing is very considerate that he lets us retry every time we fail. We tried for two times but we ended up failing so we just gave up. We decided to stop so that we will no longer burn our supplies. We need a better party set-up when we re-enter this dungeon.

Comments:
This dungeon is very adaptive. We have increased in number and so is the difficulty of the dungeon. I'm not sure about the adjustment of the difficulty but it seems that the number of spawn monsters and maybe HP of the monsters is proportional to the number of party members entering the dungeon. This is really a difficult dungeon.

Also, I'm the only adventurer who is familiar with the dungeon and the rest of the team are first timers. Somehow our movements are not sync because at some point I need to chat commands while doing my job. Our party composition might have also contributed to the failure because we don't have enough mob control to clear mobs camping on the drains. I can also act as mob control but I cannot perform that task simultaneously with closing the drain. I guess we will work on a better team composition in the next run.
