Malangdo Culverts - 1st Attempt

Overview:
Malangdo Culverts is one of the two featured instance dungeon at Malangdo Island. The Malangdo Culverts are always clogged by vicious monsters and the Cats need some hands to clear them up. Volunteer adventurers are given access to the dungeon to clean up the sewers. But when you knew you cleared everything something monstrous will face your team.

The Cast:
We are in getting to know stage on the instance dungeon so I tried to invite as many adventurers as possible. Unfortunately only one was able to make it so we will go on adventure nevertheless. Our team composition for this run is a support and MVP killer only

  • Herbie Boy an Archbishop - support
  • Ethereal Nair a Genetic - MVP Killer

The Adventure:
Before we can start with our adventure on the culverts, Rian and I have to purchase a Silverine Box that contains Malang SP Cans and Silverine Fruit. We will be needing the Silverine Fruit for purchasing the Seagod Protection item.

The Seagod Protection has different variants depending on how long would you like to re-enter the dungeon. For our adventure we are only purchasing the 23hr version. We are thinking that we only have one day to spare for this dungeon.

We went down to the second paw of Malangdo Island to trigger our instance. It was a bit complicated to start the instance but to sum it up, we talked to Albo to select the degree of difficulty our our task in clearing the pipes.

Then I talked to Missing the cleaner to trigger the instance. Albo and Missing are on the same room so its not that difficult for us to find the NPCs.

When the instance is prepared, we went down the sewers. Missing is standing at the middle of the map with some hydra. He can give some instructions on how to perform the draining or you can skip it. We choose to read all the instructions.

To give a gist of what he said, there will be an instruction that a drain is being clogged and needs to be cleared. One of the adventurers must perform the draining by talking to the drain NPC. A cast bar will appear on the adventurer. The cast bar must NOT be interrupted while being perform to successfully clear the drain. What makes the dungeon challenging is the amount of monsters that spawns that tries to interrupt your cast bar. To make it more challenging the monsters has Water Ball and Full Divest as skills!

As time passes by more and more monsters will spawn as you try to clear the drains. However, there is a limited amount of time that the drains can be cleared. If you are not successful in clearing the drain within the time frame, all monsters will die and a Contaminated Stem will appear at the center of the map.

The clearing of the drain will restart again with fresh spawn of monsters. Accumulating 6 Contaminated Stem means the whole instance is a fail. During our run we failed because it is very hard to deal with the mob with high HP and has a boss-type tag. Boss type tag means that they are immune to all sorts of status condition which could have help us to somehow neutralize the mobs.

The good thing is Missing is very patient with adventurers. He will give you the options to start the cleaning again until you succeed. Rian and I have tried 3 more times but the results were the same! We still failed in clearing the drains. Honestly this is one of the most difficult instance that we've been through. The Coelecanths are suppose to appear after we clear the drains but we didn't see even his shadow.

Better Luck next time for us.

Comments:
The dungeon is extremely difficult for a two man party. Our team composition of a support and a MVP killer is clearly not enough for the dungeon mechanics given that at least 1 member is always busy with clearing the drain. A large mob is too much for the remaining member who will be protecting the other member performing the clearing.. Maybe we need a larger group while considering that one member will always be used to clear the drain and cannot be interrupted by monsters.
