Buwaya Cave - 1st Attempt

Overview:
Buwaya Cave is one of the three instance dungeon introduced during the Port Malaya patch. The dungeon will challenge your team to be strong individually and manage to carry out task even under heavy status ailments. Buwaya drops ingredients which can be used to create a Buwaya Tattoo. The dungeon has 1 day cool down inorder to re enter.

Requirements:
Finish the not so long prerequisite quests for Port Malaya. The quest guides can be viewed at iROwiki site under Port Malaya section.
Cautious Village
Secret on the Woods

The Cast:
Our party composition for the run covers all roles. Most of the job classes that we brought have dual roles so we are confident that we can survive this dungeon. All of us are new to the dungeon so we are expecting the worst.

  • Psyche a Sura - MVP killer and support
  • Cai Wen Ji a Genetic - MVP killer and mob control
  • Herbie Boy a Sorcerer - mob control and support
  • Ethereal Nairian a Royal Guard - mob control and tank

The Adventure:
Before we start the instance, we performed the pre-requisite quests first because we just decided to try out the dungeon. When everyone has finished the quest we talked to the guard outside the Cave and created the instance.

Phase 1:
At the start of the instance we carefully walked towards the watery part of the dungeon. The dungeon is full of annoying but harmless Seaweeds. They constantly cast decrease agi which prevents us from maneuvering quickly. If we try to damage them they also heal themselves. They remind me of Entweihen Crothen's Thorns!

The task of the team is to locate Buwaya and kill him. However there are lots of fake Buwaya which will confuse the party.

*Loop
From what I observed when one of the members kills a fake buwaya the team will be placed on Buwaya's Treasure Box. In reality Buwaya's Treasure Box is just a small room where all the members are trapped. This will trigger Phase 2.

So how do you know if it's the real Buwaya? Well The real Buwaya hits hard and constantly casts Area of Effect spells like Lord of Vermillion. It will be very frustrating to find the real Buwaya so the technique is to hit hard when you see the MVP.

Phase 2:
This phase will kick in when the team has been placed inside Buwaya's Treasure Box. The team will be inflicted with Poison status regardless of status immunity and resistance.

The room is small and it's mechanics can be confusing for first timers. The first thing you need to do is to talk to the Kidnapped Resident that looks like an Old Lady. Tell her that you must Get out.

After you talked to her there will be two Buwaya's Weakness that will spawn at the top portion of the room. One will be on the left side and the other will be on the right side. It will be hard to spot them since they have a sprite of an Anopheles. The technique is to mouse over the area until your mouse pointer becomes attack mode. They are like plant type which only receives 1 damage per hit and with an approximate 20 health.

The secret in taking down Buwaya's Weakness is to use pure damage skills like Blood Sucker. When the two weakness are down, a portal will appear the the top portion of the room. Use this to go back to Phase 1.

At first Cai and I didn't know about the portal so we are constantly trapped inside the box. We thought that it's warping mechanics is similar to the Battle Grounds that we will automatically be warped out. But when we were not warped out we thought that there might be a bug on the warping system. And we learned the hard way, the portal is similar to town portals that you have to step on it to be able to be warped out.

As you have noticed there is an Old man beside the Old lady. The old man has nothing to do with the main task of the instance but he serves as a support. He'll grant you an ATK and MATK buff when you talk to him.

When you got out of the dungeon. Try to get as much damage as you could to Buwaya until he's finally dead. Congratulations! You have cleared the dungeon.

Comments:
The instance dungeon is very hard for first timers because the mechanics are complicated. The status ailments and the constant warping on Buwaya's Treasure Cest can be annoying but this adds to the challenge that the dungeon offers. The best way to kill Buwaya is to use Brute force when you are in Phase 1. Sending out fast and high damage skills is the key to finish the dungeon. As a whole the dungeon is a great challenge.
